Debra J. Layne, PT

Debra Layne is originally from Oklahoma and moved to Colorado in 1977. She is married a classmate and physical therapist, Ted Layne. She has two sons, Todd and Scott. Ms. Layne, PT enjoys flying as a private pilot, as well as skiing, hiking, reading and travel. She has been practicing physical therapy in Boulder since 1977, and is on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools.

Medical Training and Specialty:
She received her degree from the University of Oklahoma Medical School in Physical Therapy in 1975. In 1992 she was acknowledged as the PHYSICAL THERAPIST OF THE YEAR by the Colorado Physical Therapy Association. Ms. Layne, PT is specialized in orthopedic physical therapy, post-operative rehabilitation, sports physical therapy, work injury rehabilitation, vestibular (balance and dizziness) rehabilitation, TMJ treatment, treatment of headaches, peripheral neuropathy treatment, and orthotics for the feet. She has attended well over 175 post-graduate courses in physical therapy and has lectured and taught courses for other physical therapists.

Professional Affiliations:
Ms. Layne is a past-President of the Colorado Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association. She is currently President of Colorado Physical Therapy Network. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Physical Therapy. Ms. Layne is the Managing Member and Owner of North Boulder Physical Therapy providing therapeutic services at two locations: 3000 Center Green Drive, Suite 110 and at 2750 Broadway in the Boulder Medical Center. Ms. Layne, PT is a co-owner with Julie Byrt, PT of Coal Creek Physical Therapy in Louisville located at 315 South Boulder Road, Suite 100.

Becky Rippel, PT

Becky Rippel obtained her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 1989. She has been employed in acute care and outpatient settings. Early in her career, she specialized in education and rehabilitation of patients' undergoing total joint replacements and managed physical therapy in an amputee clinic. She has been employed at North Boulder Physical Therapy since 1999 and is currently the senior staff therapist at the Boulder Medical Center location. She obtained her Manual Manipulative Certification in August 2004.
Terri Handy, MPT

Terry Handy grew up in Rhode Island and moved to Colorado to play in the mountains after living for many years in Philiadelphia and San Francisco. When not encouraging patients, Terri enjoys biking, cross country skiing, ultrarunning, and climbing 14ers with her dogs.

Professinonal Training:
Terri received a B.S. in Athletic Training from Springfield College in Massachusetts and worked for several years as a high school/college athletic trainer before returning back to school. She graduated from Hahnemann University in Philiadelphia, PA in 1991 with a Master in Physical Therapy.

She has continued her training with post-graduate courses in manual therapy, orthopedics, and spine rehabilitation. Terri treats a wide variety of orthopedic injuries and enjoys working with foot and ankle rehabilitation and sports physical therapy.
Lisa Metrick, MS PT

Lisa Metrick is a Colorado native and is an avid outdoor enthusiast. When not encouraging her patients she and her husband spend time biking, hiking and telemark skiing when the snow is just right!

Physical Therapy Training and Specialty:
Lisa Metrick received her masters in physical therapy from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. She enjoys treating all types of orthopedic and sports injuries, however she is especially interested in educating, as well as treating, patients with low back pain with a focus on abdominal/core stabilization techniques. Patients and co-workers have lauded Lisa as an excellent educator and teacher. Her post-graduate courses have focused on biomechanics and orthotic treatment for the lower extremity and feet and treatment for lower back pain.

Seneca Webb, PT, DPT

A non-traditional student, Seneca’s original BS degree in Geology and Environmental Science was conferred by Tufts University in Medford, MA in 1991. Seneca moved to Colorado in 1995, and stayed for the climbing and skiing. Working a wide variety of mountain town jobs including trail crew, house-keeping, and food service, Seneca became inspired to make a positive contribution to her community through physical therapy. Work and play injuries shouldn’t be show-stoppers. Seneca loves to focus on function and help a patient return to both work and play as soon as possible.

Professional Training:
Seneca Webb graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center in May 2007 as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She completed undergraduate course work in Boulder and Colorado Springs through CU. Concurrently, Seneca completed a year long program at the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in March 2001. She also received certification as a Neuromuscular Therapist.

Seneca is looking forward to building expertise in orthopedic and manual physical therapy, patient by patient and course by course.
Lee Brenann, MSPT

Lee Brennan grew up in Virginia and Maryland and then moved to Nederland, Colorado when she was in high school. She and her husband, Steve, enjoy many Colorado outdoor activities including skiing, biking, 4-wheeling and hiking fourteeners with their dogs. She has been practicing physical therapy since 1998.

Professional Training:
Lee received her B.A. in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado - Boulder. She went on to graduate with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1998 from the University on Colorado - Health Sciences Center.

She has continued her training with post-graduate coursework in manual therapy techniques, spine and work injury rehabilitation, orthopedics and sports physical therapy, and exercise training. Lee also completed her Pilates Instructor Certification in April 2003.

Mary Ewers-Dennison is originally from Illinois. She is married to an Architect, Gary Dennison. She has one daughter, Kelley. She enjoys bike riding, back packing, reading and traveling. She has been practicing Occupational/ Hand Therapy since 1982, and came to Colorado in 1992. She currently works at North Boulder Physical Therapy at both 3000 Center Green and Boulder Medical Clinic, and at Coal Creek Physical Therapy in Louisville.

Occupational Therapy Training and Specialty:
Mary Ewers-Dennison received a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University in 1982. In 1991 she earned a Certification in Hand Therapy. She specializes in Hand Therapy, Orthopedic Occupational Therapy, Post-Operative Rehabilitation, Work Injury Rehabilitation, and all Hand and Upper Extremity Injuries or Syndromes. She has attended over 100 continuing education courses in Hand and Occupational Therapy and has lectured to other Hand Therapists.

Renee Backlund

Renee Backlund retired from a 30 year teaching career in elementary and Montessori schools. She now enjoys greeting patients at the BMC location in her role as co-office manager.
Claire Atherton

Claire Atherton has been working in medical office settings since 1990. She has lived in Boulder since 1999 and has worked at North Boulder Physical Therapy since 2002. She enjoys the friendly and caring atmosphere of North Boulder Physical Therapy.
