Our Story

North Boulder Physical Therapy has been a staple of health and rehabilitation in the Boulder and Northwest Denver community for over forty years. In 2019, Dane and Audrey Kelley, a local couple, transitioned into ownership of the company. They have worked diligently to build on the foundation that was established when North Boulder Physical Therapy was opened.

North Boulder Physical Therapy is driven by the vision of empowering our team and delivering exceptional quality physical and hand therapy. They believe in ensuring that their team is equipped to handle a broad variety diagnoses. They provide therapists unlimited access to courses and continued education to assure the highest level of rehabilitation.

Dane Kelley

Originally from Beloit, Kansas, Dane moved to Colorado after college, where he studied physical therapy, business administration, sports management and leadership. Dane has first-hand experience with clinical elements and has worked with other practices to grow, develop and expand their teams and clinics. Dane focuses on evidence-based treatment techniques. His clinical experience stems from evidence-based manual techniques in conjunction with specific individualized programming to ensure all patients get back to doing what they love. His skill set is treating all musculoskeletal dysfunctions but he specifically enjoys treating chronic cervical and lumbar diagnoses—especially headaches and migraines. Outside of the clinic, Dane enjoys spending time with his family, mentoring, CrossFit and enjoying the outdoor lifestyle Colorado is known for.

Zach Chandler

Zach is a Colorado native, having grown up in Boulder county. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ithaca College in New York, where he also played NCAA Division III soccer. He received his doctorate in physical therapy in 2009, is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, completed a sports medicine residency in 2010, and is certified in dry needling. Zach specializes in sports and orthopedic care for patients of all ages, levels and disciplines. He employs a very goal-oriented approach with his patients. Zach is the older brother of quintuplet siblings, and his father is a former professional soccer player. He currently lives in Denver with his wonderful wife, Lauren, who is also a physical therapist. In his free time, he can be found skiing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, playing lawn games at the park, going to church, traveling or hanging out at home watching soccer.

Mary Kaye has been a certified hand therapist since 1991, the inaugural year for hand therapists certification. She is passionate about hand therapy and delivers quality care to all her patients. She helps each person in their unique way regain function after injury. Mary Kaye keeps up with current education and trends in the field. Her specialty is fabricating custom thermoplastic splints for post-injury and post-surgery. Mary Kaye uses a variety of splinting materials to achieve specific goals such as post-surgery protection, joint implants, fracture care and arthritic joint support. Mary Kaye and her husband, Ken, have four children. She enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities. She enjoys staying active and loves to hike, bike and swim.

Rani Helvey-Byers

Originally from Knoxville Tennessee, Rani earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Denver. Rani enjoys treating all patients and has a particular passion for working with those living with Parkinson’s disease, vertigo, headaches and osteoporosis. She is also a certified yoga teacher and enjoys incorporating therapeutic yoga poses into her treatment. In her free time, Rani likes hiking, dancing, cooking soul food and has recently began teaching herself clawhammer banjo.

Originally from Colorado, Abigail holds a bachelor’s of science in kinesiology, an associate in occupational studies and a doctorate in physical therapy. Before joining North Boulder Physical Therapy, she worked as a physical therapy assistant and as a traveling physical therapist, primarily in the pacific northwest. Abigail is certified in dry needling and looks forward to continuing her education in neuro and nutrition. Her hobbies include anything outdoors, running, weightlifting and training for races, with the goal of eventually training for a marathon. She has participated in sprint triathlons and half-marathons. Abigail is thrilled to be “back home” after being away from Colorado.

Sarah is a Colorado native, having grown up in Thornton. She graduated from Westwood College of Technology, where she earned an associate of applied science in occupational therapy assisting. With over 20 years of experience in hand therapy, she enjoys customizing clinic and home programs to fit her individual patient’s needs. Outside of the clinic, Sarah enjoys staying fit, weight training, running 5k races, vegetable gardening, camping throughout Colorado and hanging out with her husband and two children.

A native of Boulder, Aaron grew up enjoying all Colorado has to offer. While completing his undergraduate degree at Trinity University, he swam competitively. His experience navigating swimming-related injuries led him to choose a career in physical therapy. Aaron attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, earning his doctorate in physical therapy. His treatment methods focus on neuromuscular health and functional movement patterns. His science-based, patient-focused treatment style addresses the root cause of musculoskeletal dysfunction. He strives to achieve the highest possible functional and performance goals for all his patients. Aaron enjoys skiing, weight lifting, hiking and water sports.

Originally from Northern Kentucky, Jordan earned her bachelors in exercise science from Western Kentucky University and her doctorate in physical therapy from Dominican College of Blauvelt in New York. After graduation, Jordan found her passion with treating patients with orthopedic diagnoses along with post-surgical patients, to help patients return to their lifestyle outside of their diagnosis. Jordan loves to learn and wants to expand her knowledge in dry needling, vestibular and spinal treatments to treat her patients with the best care possible. Outside of work, Jordan enjoys being outdoors with her husband and her puppy, reading, cooking and going to CrossFit classes.

Michael is originally from Indiana but has moved around a lot with mountains always being a favorite. He received his doctorate in physical therapy from University of St Augustine in 2011. Michael was a travel physical therapist for several years and found North Boulder Physcial Therapy partially due to COVID. He has always liked orthopedic and sports medicine and enjoys creating individualized programs to help patients meet their goals and return to a more active lifestyle. Michael recently moved back to Colorado and in his free time enjoys road and mountain biking, triathlons up to ½ Ironman distance, working out, reading, watching college sports and exploring new places.

Chelsea Speck

Chelsea is a Denver native who became a collegiate athlete at the University of Kansas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in Austin, Texas. Her long history as a gymnast, cheerleader, and dancer lends itself to the coaching role she uses to help patients return to their passions and a functional lifestyle. Chelsea has a particular interest in working with athletes through post-concussion therapy. She also enjoys treating patients who have orthopedic conditions or are recovering from surgery. She is certified in Dry Needling and is working to develop a specialty in balance disorders and chronic facial pain.

Macy is a recent transplant to the Colorado area, but no stranger to the mountains from growing up in Washington State. She got her Bachelor’s of Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Minnesota, and then decided she had enough of the bitter cold and endless winters. She traveled across the country, from Rhode Island to California, for two years as a traveling Physical Therapist. She’s excited to finally settle down in the outpatient setting as she enjoys treating a variety of ages and diagnoses to get them back to enjoying their active lives. Her time outside the clinic is spent hiking, biking, snowboarding, playing tennis, doing yoga, and reading. She has also ran a marathon and several half-marathons and is hoping to get into sprint triathlons after working on her swimming. She has a hard time sitting still and is always down for a new adventure!

Jay Elliott

Jay Elliott is a proud Colorado native. Born and raised in Arvada, he earned a place in the Doctorate in Physical Therapy program nearby at Regis University in Denver where he graduated in May 2021. Jay has developed an emphasis in manual therapy, including manipulation, strengthening, and training. He plans to continue his education to become an orthopedic specialist and develop expertise in trigger point dry needling. Outside of the clinic, you will find Jay hiking, playing golf, and recreational team sports. As a former college baseball player and high school baseball coach, his happy place is in the stands at any sporting event, especially at Coors Field watching a Rockies game.
